Georgia on my mind...!

Hello again everyone, back from my Thelma and Louise travels round the beautiful state of Georgia in America's Deep South and still humming that 'ole sweet song'.

Have heard back from my editor on Rye and Maddy's story and I've still got a bit of work to do - but not nearly as much as I had feared, so it's all good.

Am going to leap into those revs now so I don't miss yet another deadline (trying to be a good girl with those for a while), but thought I'd leave you with some piccies from my travels.
Highlights included the gentile elegance of Savannah in the rain, the hauntingly beautiful Sapelo island where we got a tour from the great-granddaughter of a former slave, the idyllic Open Gates B&B in the small town of Darien (Shrimp and Grits for breakfast, yum) and my mini-facial from local beautician Patty, Georgia's many mile-long beaches, and sunset over the swamp (complete with alligators and primeval scenery). Plus all the soul food, southern cooking and Mexican I could eat (and that was quite a lot, unfortunately!!)

Should add  that I had a fabulous three-hour lunch with my fellow Modern Heat author Kimberly Lang in Georgia's Rome (as opposed to Italy's Rome!) but we nattered so much we forgot to take a picture (duh!).

Anyway, if you're ever in the mood for taking a trip down the open road with Otis Redding playing on the radio and sea, sand, swamp and soul food on the menu this is the State to do it in.

But then I have to admit I have a lot of previous with keeping my camera in my bag at crucial blog photo oportunities. Ah well, I still remember the taste of that gooey cheese and pimento dip and my fish fajita!
